Okay... I'm shaking right now. A group of teenagers just tried to kill me.
I was just driving home from work. In the nasty snow. And this car keeps coming up behind me and flashing its brights. First I thought they were trying to tell me something. Then suddenly they drive up alongside me and try to run me off the road. Jeering the whole while. At least four of them in the car. Then they drop back. Stopped any pretense of just flashing their brights, and they just turned them on. Rode my ass on snowy roads with their brights on. Then they pulled up again, tried to run me off the road again. Jeering the whole while, again. They ran two stopsigns to keep up with me too. When they ran the second stopsign apparently they got bored with me and sped on. Unfortunately their license plate was covered with snow, or else I would be making a police report right now.

The temptation in situations like that would be too great.

not saying they deserve it, but idiocy like that is sometimes rewarded by mr. darwin.

17. It was fairly nondescript. Maroon or red (hard to tell in the dark)
shaped kinda like the Volkswagon type of shape, car sized but with the extra room in the back like an SUV. Other than that, I got nothin'.

boxy hatchback kinda thing.

I don't really know cars that well, unfortunately.

When I got to my car in the parking lot after work tonight it was completely covered. I knocked the snow off while I was cleaning off my windshield, but otherwise mine woulda been covered on the way home too.

next to me to let them pass. But with slippery roads, that would cause me to spin out and either go into the ditch, or into their car.

I have to say, and I don't promote it but...this is why much of the time, even as a vegan, I'm armed.

I'm not a gun nut, but I'm never afraid. A guy in a red Dodge truck changed things for me a couple years ago.

26. I'm not comfortable being armed.
If it comes to a physical confrontation, I figured either they've got a gun out, in which case I wouldn't be able to go for one anyway, or they don't, in which case odds are good that I'd be able to kick their ass.

In a vehicle though... I dunno. That's a little different.

49. He challenged me, with his friends.
He was mad that although his slow ass rolled through a red light, I'd DARE zoom past him. In traffic, he made it an issue. Said how "real men" take care of things. How he'd beat my ass right then and there. He had two other guys in the truck. I summed up the situation. I don't have a problem dealing with idiots. I'm far bigger and stronger than this idiot. But, I was outnumbered and realized that in reality, I'd not have a chance.

But, being told that I'd blow his fucking head clear off his body somehow made him realize his mortality, it seems. Maybe he caught a glimpse of my Colt .45 ACP Compact, and maybe the idea of a Black Talon blowing a barn door out of the back of his head chimed in.

Either way, douchebag bowed down.

I don't understand how someone can have so little respect for another human being.

It wasn't even an outright attack, they never actually touched me or ran into me. Just tried to fuck with me enough so that they could laugh about the near misses. Wonder if they would have laughed had they not been misses.

36. OMG, I'd be shaking too.
Too bad you couldn't have gotten more information since what they did was incredibly dangerous and should be taken off the roads. I'd probably phone it in anyway, with what I knew. And when I used to work nights and had to drive home on unplowed roads, I'd often arrive at my destination shaking just from the nerve wracking trip... :scared:

I once was followed on my way home. It was a lone guy in an old car and I knew there was trouble when he pulled right up next to me. I thought I could lose him or he'd give up, so I drove all around, did not go home. But at that hour, there was almost no traffic and he didn't back off. I got really scared, but got an idea. I turned around, with him still right behind me, and drove straight to the nearest police station. I did go inside and reported him, but as soon as I pulled in there, he took right off... whew. :-)

47. I wasn't exactly in civilization, either, since it was about four in the morning,
so nobody was around. But that's when I got out of work...

Is there anything that you can tell the police about them? I didn't have a license number, either, but I could describe the car and they thought they knew who it was (after they interrogated me to determine whether or not I was a nutcase, out at that hour, or at least that was my impression... :-()

I'm just glad that you got out of a dangerous situation safely. I was thinking that they might have been "on something," but when I was much younger, before somebody hit me broadside, I was a pretty fearless driver, too.

Sounds like you handled it well, so you know now that you don't panic when confronted with something like that, good to know :-),but the next person might not be as self-possessed... :-(

Take care of yourself and get some rest...:hi:

The driving age needs to be raised to 30 if these wanking GTA-wannabes are going to have such disregard for others' lives. They can kill themselves for all I'd care, but don't do shit like that.

64. Glad you're OK, be thankful you got lucky and weren't hurt...
...had something similar happen right around sunup on the way to work many years ago, on the Bayshore Freeway near Moffett Field. The freeway was nearly empty. All of a sudden this guy who looked like Cat Stevens with black plastic framed glasses in a beat-up sub-compact pulls up on my right and is pacing me, side-by-side, and keeps looking over at me. I sped up. He sped up. I sped up again. He sped up again.

Just like you, I had no idea about this guy's intentions. How the hell did I know if he had a gun in the car, or if he was just an unarmed prick?

All of a sudden, out of nowhere, a Highway Patrol car came roaring up with the red lights on and pulled him over.

I got lucky, you got lucky. We're two lucky guys.

65. Polite Society Has Disintegrated
not sure what the cause is.

How frightening and horrible.

I learned a long time ago (nothing to do with you) not to flip people off when I worked in drug treatment and a guy said he was arrested after chasing a guy down with the intent to shoot him for flipping him off.

Not that flipping people off is ever nice, just never thought of it as having such consequences like that.

Now back to your story, even without plates if you can recognize the vehicles, you still might make a report. They are probably doing it to others.

66. Did you report it anyway?
Could be there are others those kids threatened.

Let the cops know about the time, road/route, actions.

Could be a lead for them if there are other reported incidents.

Am glad you are safe.

69. That is horrible. We lost a high school football player to a car accident
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 02:52 PM by mnhtnbb
caused by a car that was riding tail and then pushed the car off the road in which the football player was riding. Very early a.m. (more like middle of the night). To my knowledge, the perps haven't been
caught. After they caused the accident, they left the scene.

You should call the police anyway and report the make/model of the car and where this happened.
