I quit.
Christmas & snow! I'm sick of it! I had a foot of the white shit in my driveway that I spent 3 hours clearing yesterday - and now I've got another foot today! Then I found out that my dad's present won't arrive until next Friday - not that I've finished shopping for anyone else either.

Then this morning my sister calls to tell me that the cousins are coming for Christmas and since she doesn't have enough space everyone's going to be at my house!

Have I finished redoing the bathroom that I expected to have all winter to do? No. Do I have enough chairs for 11 people? No. Do I have enough place settings? No. Is my refrigerator even big enough to hold that much food? No.

Will I be able to finish Christmas shopping, put the bathroom back together and paint it, clean the rest of house - and dig the car out sometime - in three days?

I don't care.

2. Just Say No To Relatives.
Really. It's totally rude, even for family, to just invite themselves. If you can't handle the crowd, that's the way it is. Everybody can go to a restaurant or something.

4. You do realize what Einstein's "other" theory of relativity was, don't you?
allow me: "The closer you are to your relatives, the slower time passes."

something like that...

6. Has this ever happened before?
I mean, your sister making such a decree about something so inconsiderate and
intrusive as dumping 12 relatives on you at the last minute and you just say oh,
okay, no problem?

Sorry to spout a platitude, but people can only abuse you if you let them. You
can either be reasonable or you can be a total ass about it, but the saying "Naw,
hell no, fuck no" part is up to you.

7. Baldguy, I have a pushy brother who sounds

like your sister.

"she doesn't have enough space everyone's going to be at my house! "

Ah- NO!

If she invited them, she takes care of their arrangements.

You are NOT the bad guy here,
you are the assertive one!

Good luck.

:)

8. Massive get togethers run in my family.
Don't worry about puting everyone at a table. Let people choose where to sit in the house. We use to hide out in my bedroom during that crap. Joined occasionally by the cool kids trying to get away from all the cigarette smoke. We'd be sitting with the window open and the fan on just so we could breathe.
