satellite tv is out...can't figure it out! |
|
The other day, we had some snow and the TV went out. So went out and sprayed a deicer on the dish. That fixed it almost instantly.
Today we got a little snow, got up on the ladder and sprayed the dish again. Didn't help! Wiped the dish off, and checked on it later. Now the dish is clear and dry, but still isn't receiving a signal.
Anyone got an idea? A friend who lives close by has the same service said his signal is fine.
Any ideas why our dish isn't working?

If so, how badly? When I had a satellite dish, it would go out if it was snowing heavily, even if the dish was clear.

And like I said, our friend just lives a mile from us and his is working.
Probably it's a question that's impossible to answer....

4. Sounds like some water has got in the line somewhere. |
|
Either that or it's got into the LNB at the front of the dish.
I had a crappy self-installation that OK when the rain started it would be OK but as it soaked in the signal level would drop. A couple of days later when it dried out, the satellite started working just fine again.
Re-doing the plugs and making sure everything was weatherproofed did the trick. But this was a temporary installation at the end of the day anyway.
Mark.

So maybe you're right??
One thing's for sure -- humans often turn to cannibalism when TV goes out. (joke)

6. Did you 'move' the dish? |
|
We don't get snow down here in coastal Alabama. My dish only goes out (usually for a very short time) when a really big thunderstorm moves through.
I've never touched the dish. When you wiped it off could you have moved it just a little? Doesn't take much from what I read.
