Not like I wasn't already having a bad day |
|
my dad decides to tell me this little bit of information. He might start seeing a psychologist. I ask him why. "Because you kids are driving me crazy." That just made me feel a whole lot better. Thanks, Dad.
I don't think he realizes that that really hurt me when he said that.
I don't really know what to do about this.

Talk to him about it.
Parents have feelings, too. They're just like you but older.

4. Well, there are probably other things that you don't even know |
|
about, things having nothing to do with you, that are stressing him out.
The rooms might just be "the straw that broke the camel's back", and not really a big deal in and of themselves.

6. Tell him 'Well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.' |
|
And then say "boop! boop! boop!" and hop out of the room.

I think he just said that as a flip remark off the top of his head because in reality he can't talk to you about what's bothering him. He could be depressed. Maybe he needs a vacation from the kids and can't take one. The grown-up world is full of economic stress and certainty of hard times to come right now, so he probably has to get some help in figuring out how to deal with it, as he may be facing some hard decisions.
Maybe he IS stressed out being a parent. It's not about you, but parents are only human. YOu are probably going to find out what it is and it may be combination of things.

It sucks and it hurts, I know.
Maybe there is nothing for you to do. My suggestion is that you not look for ways that you might be driving him crazy. Don't think every minute, "is this driving him crazy?" You'll make yourself nuts.
You'll get through it, dear one.

to put aside how hurt you feel, since your father is the one having a hard time. Just asking how you can help would be a start.
