My boss just tried to play hardball with me about working christmas day

Just called now.

Boss: "Hey, I know this is out of left field, but could you work tomorrow? Not so much for us, but so Toronto has someone here with these storms."

Me; "What time?"

Boss: "Your choosing"

Me: "Well I guess I could make it in around noon."

Boss: "Oh, I was hoping for someone around ten."

Me: "Sorry, but I'm moving away indefinately in a month so this could be my last christmas at home for a few years so I need to do the xmas thing in the morning."

Boss: "Oh, well I'll phone someone else, and if I can't find someone I'll call you..... ar you sure you can't start earlier."

Me: "Sorry, any other day wouldn't be an issue."

7. Well, she's really not bad, just a lil rough around the edges.

I honestly would be fine with working... but in this snow it's gonna take an hour to get there... plus getting ready and stuff.

I'm sure there'd be nothing that would set my parents over the edge more than me going to work instead of participating in my Nephew's first christmas, my other nephew's first that he'll remember and my LAST christmas at home for god knows how long.

I've already missed birthdays, births, christmas dinners...etc due to my career. And with me fucking off to Beijing in a few weeks they'd likely slay me. Especially since they re-arranged their annual xmas season trip to the cabin to accomodate being home on my schedule.
