it means that people are pushing your post back to the top of the page so more people will see it.
"k&r" means that they are kicking and recommending it, 5 recommendations will send it to the greatest page.
Welcome to DU! :hi:

3. Kick means to send an original post (your thread) back to the top of the page |
|
for visibility. That's good. It's approval or support of a post. K&R is "kick and recommend" which is very good. It means they liked the post enough to not only kick it, but to also recommend (to suggest it is recommended reading, and to potentially put it on the Greatest Page).
Welcome to DU!

5. kick is good. k&r is even better |
|
Welcome to DU, dcsmart :hi:
Kick bumps a thread to the top so that others will see it. :kick:
k & r stands for "kicked and recommended" which means that the poster is kicking it to the top and recommending it to the greatest page (I think a thread needs 5 recommendations to get to the greatest page -- my threads never get there, so I don't know! :-) ).

16. Welcome! I'm fairly new, too! I am yet to figure out the exact definition |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-25-08 11:26 PM by sohndrsmith
of "kick" myself, but I think it means that the person likes your topic, by posting a reply that person is offering a compliment by saying they want your post to be stay visible and active... I think the more posts you have the more your thread stays near the top of the list of threads, or "kicked" towards the front of the line/top of the heap...
I think. I could be wrong...
I did finally figure out that it was a good thing because it always seemed to accompany recommendations. : )
(edited because I forgot something):
I also think that it may be a way to "unofficially recommend" threads when the time limit for recommendations has passed (I think the window is 24 hours - or 48... it's one or the other).
