1. Aw, man
"Only You Know and I Know" was one of the great tunes of its time. :(

2. True that. "Comin Home" was my favorite of Delaney and Bonnie & Friends.
This clip feature Eric Clapton and George Harrison playing rythym.

3. Bonnie played at the first concert I saw
Snail opened (pretty good Santa Cruz-area group), then Bonnie, then Rare Earth. Monterey Fairgrounds' Pattee Arena (where Monterey Pop was held), 1973.

Couple weeks later, Canned Heat and Dr. John headlined the same stage. My mom wouldn't let me go because "Those rock concerts are nothin' but sex and dope."

Yeah, Mom. That's why we go. :D

Man, those were some good shows, Here's another gem with Delaney and Bonnie. This time they have Bobby Whitlock and Dave Mason playing along with Eric Clapton.

6. San Francisco.
Lydia grew up on the peninsula - Redwood City. They're still playing as far as I know.

8. Delaney & Bonnie made Clapton's "The Band" dream come true...
Supposedly, Clapton walked away from cream because of a scathing Rolling Stone review. The next project, Blind Faith, imploded after one album and tour. While all of this was going on, he heard The Band's "Music From Big Pink" and decided that was the direction he wanted to take...a focus on the songs, his role simply a player in the band...

...of course, life is what happens when we're making other plans. Clapton used the players from the Delaney & Bonnie / Mad Dogs & Englishmen universe for his next solo album:

...which led to keyboardist Bobby Whitlock, bassist Carl Radle and drummer Jim Gordon following him off the Derek & The Dominos.

Not sure if Clapton ever gave appropriate thanks & credit, but the lineage is there for all to see.

RIP Delaney.
