If You Have a Blu Ray Player, Would You Post Your *Must Have* Movies ?
I bought a PS3 and a few recent release titles at Christmas and now with Amazon's big sale, I'm trying to start a collection. I'd like to start with the oldies but goodies that have good BD Reviews on sound and picture quality. Thus far I've ordered the following and would appreciate any other suggestions. Thanks !

1 "The Last Samurai "
William Atherton;

1 "Superman Returns "

1 "The Patriot (Extended Cut) "
René Auberjonois; Blu-ray;

1 "2001 - A Space Odyssey "
Keir Dullea; Blu-ray;

1 "Troy - The Director's Cut "
Brad Pitt; Blu-ray

1 "Blade Runner (Five-Disc Complete Collector's Edition) "
Harrison Ford; Blu-ray;

1 "Close Encounters of the Third Kind (30th Anniversary Ultimate Edition) "
Norman Bartold; Blu-ray;

1"The Rock "
Jim Maniaci; Blu-ray;

1 "Batman Begins (Limited Edition Gift Set) "
Blu-ray;

3. Most of the films Criterion releases are worth checking out.
Bottle Rocket and The 400 Blows are also top notch.

And they come with a lot of really great special features too, which is fun if you're a film nerd.

7. Criterion is amazing.
I've got a bunch of their stuff -- "Bicycle Thieves" and "8 1/2," to name a couple.

8. Same.
I wish they weren't so expensive though.

I've got The Royal Tenenbaums, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Vampyr, Brand Upon the Brain!, and Three Films By Hiroshi Teshigahara on DVD from Criterion. So amazing.

14. I Have A PS3 Too, But I'm Only Renting BluRay Movies...
I have boxes of VHS tapes in the basement & 100's of DVDs. In 10 years... who knows what the new media will be.

15. If you buy only one item on that list,
buy El Norte. You won't regret it.

6. As a nerd
I would say any of the Planet Earth series.

My brother has it and it's WAY cool.

10. For me, Pixar and Studio Ghibli are high on the list.
Ratatouille and Wall-E, and Spirited Away. Pixar has a Blu-ray of their animated shorts, which may be some of their best work.

Plus "The Dark Knight," since you've already got "Batman Begins" on the list.

11. Dark Knight was the first Blu-Ray movie I watched, followed by Iron Man, lol. Both had incredible
pictures and sound ! I'd heard Wall-E was a good one to watch and might pick up the animated shorts as well, thanks !
