Tomorrow it's the 23rd wedding anniversary for Mr. Yankee and me!
Second marriages for both of us. We're grayer now and Mr. has some cardio problems but he's still working. I'm retired but going strong as a Literacy Volunteer.

Lots to be happy about this New Years. I always love it when it rolls around.

Happy New Year to all of you at DU! Much love and happiness for 2009. We can't WAIT until Jan. 20th!!!

1. Awesome on the literacy volunteering...
which organization? (If I might ask?)

I used to work as a AmeriCorps member for the Greater Hartford Literacy Council and worked closely with literacy organizations statewide. You all do great work, literacy volunteering should be grounds for sainthood IMO. Of all the great efforts and organizations I've ever been a part of (all of whom do incredible work), nobody dramatically changes lives as much as literacy tutors.

Congrats on the anniversary and many many more.

4. Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven
I conducted an ESOL class for LVGNH 2004-2005. Now I have a one on one student, a Chinese woman who has been tragically widowed and is on her own, raising her 8 year old daughter. I start next Tuesday!
