You would have come down like you went up. The distinction being would not could.

Is that to be read as a single sentence? Am I drooling?

This has driven me to the point of distraction. I almost can't even digest your answer. The word "would" is hidden in the contraction, and "would" is hypothetical vs. the concrete of the "could"? That's what you're getting at?

5. If You Went Up The Same Way You Came Down... |
|
then you would have to come down the same way you went up. I think that the concrete is "would" not "could". "would" being in the past tense and "could" being hypothetical. I also think it has something to do with what the definition of "if" is ... I think. My head hurts now.

Not sure of the punctuation. It's from the song "Never Gonna End" by Tranquility Bass. My wife and I always thought it was funny--an announcer repeats it over and over--but just sat down to puzzle it out last night. It's a bender....

It did take me about 10 minutes to figure out how to explain myself though (and I'm not sure that was even correct). The punctuation ? was for the Chief.
