1. two great choices, but
I'll go with LotR because all 3 movies were great, while SW was only 2 great movies.

3. Exactly what I was going to say. I loved the original Star Wars;
the new shit sucks. LOTR was awesome all the way through; Sarahbellum and I watched all three over the new year holiday :-)

5. I agree as well.
The last three SW movies tarnished the series, IMHO.

6. the last four
but, I think Revenge of the Sith was pretty good - maybe better than Return of the Jedi.

7. Yeah Revenge of the Sith was okay.
I still much preferred Return of the Jedi though..especially since it lacked Hayden Christensen who was a BIG reason the prequels sucked.

11. I think it's more Lucas' fault
Luke was pretty whiny & irritating in the first two movies, but at least the dialogue was better and he had Harrison Ford/Han Solo to play off of...

the dialogue from the prequels is just awful, though.

However, I thought the RotS showdown between Obi-Wan & Anakin was excellent (until the "I hate you!!" line at the very end) and the "Execute Order 66" scene where the Jedi were almost all killed was very good as well.

8. Ya, but ....
Didn't he make up for it with General Grievous ?

10. No
Because Grievous sucks at everything he does. He never completes a successful mission from Cheney.

And he already did the propeller of death thing in Raiders, only with a real plane. A Nazi propeller of death plane.

12. Genndy Tartakovsky deserves credit for General Grevious.
Lucas just ripped off a cartoon.

16. I don't see that.
According to the Revenge of the Sith DVD, series creator George Lucas instructed his creative team to create an enemy that foreshadowed Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader: the heavy breathing, the cyborg body, and his seduction into a malevolent faction http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Grievous

25. According to George Lucas, he wrote everything.
Including WWII, Hidden Fortress, and Triumph of the Will.

Fuck Lucas and his claims.

17. What if Lucas had done LOTR?`
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv4Potdpjhw

I vote for LOTR because one and a half good movies followed by four turds does not make a good series.

21. Lord of the Rings, unquestionably
Better performances, emotional climax upon emotional climax, Wagnerian sweep, a more cheery fanbase...no contest.

Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back were really cool, though.

24. No, I don't care for either. I only saw the first LOTR, which bored me...
And I haven't watched the original Star Wars Trilogy since I was a wee lad.
