I just got carded for beer at the grocery store.

Just ran out to the Publix down the street for a couple vitals and sure enough, the lovely cashier asked to see my ID "just to be sure". She apologized and I said that when one gets to be my age (37), getting carded is quite the compliment. She said it's because I "have such a baby face".

Maybe I should start cruising the university campus to pick up freshmen chicks.

I told the guy who was carding me (who had sold me beer many times and was suddenly checking people) that while I was getting my license, he should get the manager. He did, then I politely showed the manager my ID and said "I've come in here four or five times a week since the turn of the century, we know each other's names, I've met your kids and you've seen my girlfriend's cat. Is it possible to avoid this unnecessary BS in the future?"

The manager turned to both cashiers and said "never card this man again."

That manager's my new best friend now. Compliment, my ass - it's a hassle and an anal-retentive one. No person alive could seriously believe I'm 20 or younger; on a good day I'd get away with 35.
