I saw "Gran Torino" yesterday. It is a great story of redemption. It was disappointing that two DUers intentionally revealed the ending to spoil it for others. Definitely not cool and definitely not DU behavior.
BTW, a couple of DUers said Clint was racist. Some of his films definitely advocate spontaneous moral outrage in the form of violence and some of his characters are definitely reactionary. But it takes a special soul not to want to exact revenge, even violent revenge on those who trespass against you. That's why we have laws to protect us from the law of jungle but laws don't always work.
And if Clint is a racist it's odd the dignity he invests in the Hmong people and the respect for their culture "Gran Torino" shows. .
I better not read this board anymore today so I don't find out how "Revolutionary Road" ends.

1. Nice to hear this opinion. |

This movie's ads reminds me of Falling Down, a movie I feel was flawed due to its largely uniform right wing tilt. Even moral battles are not uncalled for; ideological screeds suck. Nice to hear this drifts our way.

That was Dustin Hoffman as Charles Bronson in "Death Wish"
Without giving away too much there is no signature violent confrontation to mark the movie's apex. I would be a liar if I said I wasn't disappointed. There is something in our reptilian brain that expects and even endorses Old Testament justice...
There were people who I wished were dead but now I look back at some of these people as tragically flawed if not sympathetic or even comical...
