Who uses a broadband air card for their only internet use. Like a Verizon card?

I put in one of those slot things/card acceptorizor things in the desktop, and it works well, and am now considering dumping the broadband cable. Does anyone else do this? Also can other people see your aircard and or pggyback on it if you are in a apartment complex?

But I bought one of my laptops with a broadband card installed - my access is through my cell phone account (Verizon). Is that what you're talking about?

I love it. I have DSL at home, and I use my Macbook at school through their wireless network, but I can get access on my other laptop anywhere I get a cell phone signal. I take it camping with me. The only reason I don't use it at home is because my reception here isn't so great.

2. Yes, that's the same thing, but mine is a card that goes in the slot of the laptop, and

the slot in the new thing I put in the back of the desktop.

4. How much data do you get per month on your card?

There are monitors you can download to your computer to measure the amount of data transferred. I was set to ditch broadband and use a wireless card until I realized I used the maximum on the card (before you started paying by the gigabyte) in less than a week. Sometimes in 3 days.

6. That's the rub. Verizon says my contract is for "unlimited" because

it was the same contract that I got when it first was available. But then when you press them, they say do not go over 5 gig a month. But it is a flat rate and I never have exceeded 5G. But I know that sure as hell, some monster download will be needed for Vista or Adobe, so I am not sure to ditch the cable, which I really would like to do.

8. I kept my cable modem

and when I need to use internet out in the world, I go to a coffee shop, restaurant or the library with free wireless. I couldn't justify the $60 on top of the cable modem for Verizon.

I watch news clips and tv episodes on my computer. Until the price comes way down and you get more bandwidth, I'm going to stick with my cable modem.

5. I'd key it only for the MAC address in my computer...

But with Windows patches and technet goodies, sticking with faster speed broadband is not just the logical, but the preferable choice.

7. The cable is insane fast, but I think getting rid of one or the other to save.

It is about the same monthly.
