Yo, Pittsburghers, let's just do it |
|
My abject apologies. I've been meaning to organize some sort of a get together in the Burgh but life has gotten in the way--I won't bore you with the gory details.
Let's just keep this simple and informal. I've picked a date--Sunday, September 14. I've picked a time--2:00 pm. I've picked a place--a Panera--good food, good coffee, good place to hang out. Message me to find out which Panera (I'm just a bit wary of being crashed by Freepers). Those of you who have my work email address, keep in mind that I'm off work this week so you'll have to send me a DU message.
We have so very much to talk about.
Meanwhile, some nice person in Columbus has organized a gettogether over there on August 16--only 3 hours away for most of us--and I aim to try to make it.
And keep this message bumped, please :-)

2. Amusing story about Mars (honest, this is all true). |
|
My parents and some friends of theirs went to Cape Canaveral in Florida.
The guide, just out of her teens, apparently, was giving her spiel.
She gets to a point where she asks people where they were from.
She looks directly at my Dad and asks him where he's from.
(Mind you, they were right in front of the Apollo Moonlanding exhibit, complete with the rockets).
My father, with a straight face, answers her honestly.
"Apollo."
The guide rolls her eyes, figuring she had a joker in the crowd. (She did, but he was honestly answering her question). She turns to another person, who happens to be my Dad's buddy.
She asks him where he's from, and he answers her honestly.
"Mars."
She gave up.

7. Can I suggest that you go to a place that serves some interesting |
|
libations??? In Chicago, we usually meet at bar/restaurants. And it has been great.

8. Good coffee seemed more important |

But, hey, if coffee goes well, we can try beer next time :-)
