I got called "uneducated" today. Ask me anything.
I go to this group for LGBTQ youth. We do a lot of work with anti-opression issues, and today we were talking about trans issues.

There were two annoying queeny teenage boys there who seemed to flaunt their ignorance of the whole thing. Then, I mentioned something about trans people and the feminist community, and one of them was like "What's feminist? Is that, for, like.......fems?"

It gets worse from there.

They then proceeded to bitch about how women are in fact, not oppressed, because they apparently get all the good things in life. You know, like getting into clubs for free, and the "request stop" program on city buses. I then informed them that having to spend 5 dollars one night does not compare with getting lower pay for the rest of your life, or having to live in fear of being sexually assaulted.

One of them then called me, and this other girl, M., who had been agreeing with me (her and I see eye to eye on these kind of issues) "uneducated" because we didn't agree with him.

You know what the irony is, here?

I'm in my senior year of high school, taking advanced courses, have an A average, and have already gotten offers of admission to universities.

M. is actually one of the group facilitators, and is there doing her practicum for college.

Uneducated, right. :eyes:

1. People with inferiority complexes often call other people "uneducated" or "unintelligent"
to make themselves feel better.

5. So you told him to shut his pie hole because grown ups were talking, right?
If not, you're way more patient than I would have been. :)

8. No, but I was tempted to do a "talk to the hand" gesture.
But I doubt that would have advanced discussion much.

I forgot to mention that one of them also called my logic "retarded". Anti-oppression: UR DOIN IT WRONG.

7. Do queeny teenage boys
Who question the validity of feminism have any idea how ridiculous they sound? (Do they still call females fish or guppies? that's from the '70's-- The stories I could tell.)

Can they embrace all the variance, nuance and beauty of all the potential genders, or have the remotest grasp of gender politics or the meaning of difference without tripping over their dicks? Can they say gender politics without drooling?

Fucking little Window lickers.

You on the other hand, Aspiegirl, are a bright, shining star.

For one thing, you obviously don't know anything about alphabetical order. It should be BGLQT.

Duh.
