Is "You don't smell as bad as you did last week" a compliment? |
|
A young relative told this to me, and I am not sure how to take it.
I don't really understand the street language of the younger people today.
In other words, I'm not hip to the jive.

When I went on my date last week, the resident weirdo said my sweater smelled like soap, and a dryer sheet.
Now, I could have taken offense, but honestly, she is that obtuse.
I just said, well thank you!

2. Reminds me of an old Jackie Vernon joke. |

Vernon was a dead-pan comic back in the day whose shtick included what a hard time he had talking to women. His idea of a compliment would be to say, "Y'know, you don't sweat much for a fat girl."
