He won't stop swallowing his teeth. |
|
JackMN lost loose tooth #4 last evening, and we are officially 1-for-4 in catching him before he eats the tooth. x(
Potty training is going nowhere. I tried to have a heart-to-heart with Jack about it, and the conversation went something like this: "You're a big boy, you can go poop on the potty." "No." "Noel and Sophie use the potty." "No." "They don't?" "No." "So, you're telling me that you like to wear poopy diapers? You like to walk around with your stinky poop stuck to your butt? That feels good, huh?" "Yes!"
I give up.

1. Heh...how old is he? My mom tells me I was the same way with diapers. |
|
In fact, I have a memory of wearing a diaper (I also have a very loooong memory. It's not like it was, you know, just a few years ago).
It'll happen, eventually.
Aaaaand I know about the tooth-swallowing. I just let 'em go.

7. He is way too old for this crap. As am I. |
|
He'll be six in March. He has Down Syndrome and he's as stubborn a human being as I've ever encountered.

13. Ahhhh...yes, that'll take longer. A friend is going through the same thing with her DS kid. |

She's a girl, though, and as they say, girls are generally easier with the toilet training.
ETA: I fucking love the name of your blog.

2. It's a win-win. The tooth will show up in the diaper. |

When the first one fell out, he was hysterical and terrified.

Jack will sit on the toilet more readily if I sing, but then he gets distracted by the singing and forgets to go.

6. My sister wore diapers until she was 5 |
|
According to my mom they talked to the pediatrician about it and were told 'just wait till she gets to kindergarten, she'll be embarrassed that she's still in diapers and will start using the toilet.' And that's what happened. I guess that doesn't help you now. :(

12. Yeah. He couldn't care less. |
|
This morning when I told him to get off the coffee table, he shouted "I 'dis DORABO!" Translated: "I'm just adorable!" That's what I get for telling him as much, earlier.

14. LaraMN, you are my favorite poster. Seriously, write a book. You have a talent for relating a story. |

And you certainly have the material. :hi: I bet others here would agree with me.
I hope you are aware how impressive your parenting style is to the outside observer. This and your seeming ability to take life (with all of it's insanity) in stride are rather remarkable. You face it all with gently wry humor and flexible grace. I just thought some serious MOM props were due.
