1. I vote overwhelmingly, call it TWO VOTES, if you can, for Goober...

...cuz I "met" him (George Lindsey) when the band I was in was on the Gong Show.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L28PryAGXII

BTW: The band was called "Scott Thomas Lowe & Atascadero," not "Peter..." (as the poster of the video titled it, because his brother Peter was one of the band's guitarists).

Also, Chuck Barris, the game show creator/producer and alleged CIA hitman

refused to say the name of the band correctly, part of his schtick I guess.

Edit to add IMDB.com Chuck Barris/Dangerous Mind link

2. VERY cool!
The chances are good that I saw that episode when it aired, because I was a certified Gong Show addict.

:toast:

...over the last thirty years or so.

Gong Show = today's America's Got Talent, but on a much smaller production budget (how much $$ could Jaye P Morgan and George Lindsey realistically demand?) and with overall much lower ultimate expectations on everybody's behalf, especially the show's "winners."

The Gong Show was a great place to go in the 70s, if you lived anywhere near Hollywood and wanted to put your bullcrap (or really good stuff too, like us) on national teevee.

On edit: My one hundredth DU post is about...The Gong Show! How humiliatin'...and for clarity
