Name a band and an unusual venue they have played. |
|
U2 performing 'Pride' on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial where MLK made his I have a dream speech.
And The Grateful Dead at the Great Pyramids:
"The Grateful Dead only played three concerts in Egypt in their thirty-year history, September 14, 15, and 16, 1978. The shows were performed very close to the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid. A total lunar eclipse occurred during the third concert."

1. My band once played Little Dave's Half-way House in Radcliff, KY |
|
Halfway between Louisville and Fort Knox. They actually had chicken wire in front of the stage.
Does that count?

7. I saw Blues Traveler and Col. Bruce Hampton at the Denver Zoo once. |
|
Seemed like a good set up, but they didn't restrict the crowd from walking around the zoo, even after hours. Plus, you could bring in your own alcohol.
I think it was about midway through the BT set that John made an announcement that they were told they'd have to stop playing if people didn't stay out of the animal enclosures.

11. Fugazi once played to an empty venue with the speakers pointed at the door... |
|
With the kids listening/moshing outside. It was due to the crowd exceeding the fire code, but the band still wanting to play.

One of the coolest stories I've ever read. If you ever get the chance, read "Our Band Could Be Your Life." Lots of cool stories like that about a bunch of great bands.

16. The Ex outside of a club in Ethiopia. |
|
The owner of the club was charging more than the fans could afford, so the band canceled the show and did a free show outside instead. Not your usual venue, and definitely not your usual band. Not many bands walk the walk like The Ex do.
