I tried to make homemade French toast.
It didn't turn out so well at all. So, I added about a cup of molasses to it to try to drench that hideous "somebody fucking up this meal from the get go" flavor.

It didn't work.

I'm foaming at the mouth now. x(

You can't get rabies from French toast, can you?

1. Step 1. Just because it's called French Toast...you don't put your tongue in the toaster.

9. Milk, eggs, nutmeg, & bread.
Use an abundant amount of oil in the skillet and turn the temperature high enough to make the oil bubble when you put it in. Making sure to press down on the center of the bread while it's in the pan gets it toasted more evenly.

I showed my girlfriend how to make it. Now she is always asking me to make her french toast. That reminds me... I'm suppose to make that for her on Valentine's Day.

It would be an awfully long way for you to come for Sunday brunch. I make killer French toast! We even make our own maple syrup to pour on top!

Here, drool over this photo my son took of my French toasties.

I'm sorry yours didn't turn out. :pals:

maybe that was the problem.

15. You added what?
I cannot believe you added molasses....I love molasses but that won't save your French Toast

Here are some troubleshooting tips

Stale dry bread soaks up the juice. Fresh bread comes apart.
Don't over mix the juice.
If you can, dip the bread in the juice just enough to get it wet but not soggy.

If all else fails, layer it in a pan with some sausage or with some berries, bake in an oven and call it strata!

24. Sounds like the loungers have the basic recipe down
and even having the temperature up pretty high, which is important. This is how I do it and I've always had pretty good success. I crack an egg for each person who is having, French toast. Then I cover said eggs with enough milk to cover them. I usually give a shake of salt and a short shake of pepper. I like to use a bit of sugar, I pour a little in my palm, I think around a teaspoon. I pour some vanilla in the cap and toss that in. I think it must be between a 1/2 teaspoon and a teaspoon. I want a little flavor not for it to taste like vanilla. Just beat it enough to break the eggs and blend it, don't blend it into foam. I love my grill for pancakes or French toast. It provides a large flat surface with even heat and I turn it up to 400 to to start. I work the heat down to 350 and that seems to brown and cook through without burning. Only turn once. Good Luck. Oh, yeah, I think they were right up thread: move to France.
