Foods that you loved as a kid that you hate now
:D

Hmmm...I guess for me, mustard sandwiches. I can't say that I hate them, since I haven't had one in about 25 years. Oh wait, I have one!

McDonalds food. All of it. :puke:

:hi:

2. Miracle whip and potato chip sandwiches on wonder bread
which I had to make at my best friends house because my parents wouldn't let refined sugar or white flour through the door, let alone miracle whip or white bread

8. I seem to remember doing that at least once!

And yeah, McDonalds is emergency food for me. Like on the MA Turnpike and starving emergency. Otherwise, never. Ew.

11. For me it's not so much the foods
as how they are prepared. I used to love lots of tomato sauce on my spaghetti. I'm talking drowning. Now not so much. I tend to like fewer and condiments and less of them, too.

And, yeah, the whole Hostess everything is gag inducing but especially those pies.

:hi:

14. Vienna sausages
I remember enjoying them, but I wouldn't touch them now; the texture has become offputting to me. It's entirely possible that they were always revolting, and it took me a while to get hip to it.

18. Fried food
There's only three fried foods I'll eat now: french fries (d'oh), oysters (I prefer 'em raw, but that's not appropriate for a po' boy, and my SO is Cajun so I can't skip this one), catfish, and okra (a southern thing fer sure!). Except for oysters and catfish, I consider fried seafood to be sacrilege. And if I could, I would eat seafood 7/52.

Now ask me about the foods I wouldn't eat as a kid that I'll eat now... aspersions (asparagus), turnip/collard greens, spinach, cooked tomatoes, most beans, peas, carrots and other veggies.

What I wouldn't eat then, and I still won't eat: Lima beans, and pickled beets. :puke:

:hi:

19. Mushrooms
I'm not sure that I really liked them much then, either. I think I was trying to make myself like them because everyone else in my family LOVES them. My sister especially. She used to go nuts over the Mushroom and Swiss hamburger at Hardees. I choked it down.

Interestingly enough, my husband is allergic to mushrooms. Works for me!

21. Cheese.
I used to love cheese as a kid. Muenster. Swiss. Monterrey Jack. Edam. Gouda. Cheddar. Brie. I used to do yard work and babysitting to earn money, and then I'd spend it on cheese because it was my favorite food.

20 years of being allergic to dairy, and now the very thought of eating cheeses is unappealing. I don't even bother with soy cheeses. I've given them a try but I'm not terribly enthusiastic about them.

22. You should check out Teese
It's really, really good. I've made several pizzas with it. :9

I'm the opposite, I hated cheese until age 25 or so.

25. I just had Kraft Macaroni and Cheese tonite!
first time I have bought it and first time i have ate it at home. Added onion and cayenne and a bunch of fresh lemon juice, hah hah. Oh I put the butter in but didn't want to try the canned milk so used sour cream instead.

It's quite decadent. Wish I had frozen peas to mix in!
