J - Jesus first
O - Others next

Y - Yourself last

Anyone ever see this nonsense on church marquees or elsewhere?

Sounds like a real recipe for people-pleasers.

Another thing, saying "Jesus first" is like saying "Buddy Holly first." Or rather, more like saying, "Oliver Twist first."

1. I love it when church signs don't make sense. I saw one the other day that said
"New Year's Resolution: Go to church more. God." I know they were trying to make it look like those God billboards from several years ago, but to me it read like God was telling HIMSELF to get to church more often. Which, frankly, I think is pretty unlikely.

3. Well he got out of the habit while Bush was in office...
I think he got tired of all those sermons on the virtues of torture and preemptive war.

4. HAAA! He looked around and was like, "Man, this place has really gone downhill lately...
...who the hell ARE these people? I'm outta here."

6. Believe me. There are churches where God never makes so much as a
fleeting appearance.

2. Depends on one's understanding of putting Jesus first.
For some of us, putting Christ first means serving one's fellow man, and not one's own selfish desires first. Now, I realize that always putting one's own needs last is not healthy, and this is the problem with any mantra, it is necessarily limiting, and therefore cannot take all situations into account (if it did, it wouldn't be a cute little motto)

In essence it all depends on perspective.

5. I have a picture of this one somewhere, it isn't faked...
Staying in bed and screaming "Oh GOD!" on Sunday morning does not constitute praying.
