Oh, my god - have you ever had someone from deep in your past try to contact you? |
|
I've been getting these messages from Classmates.com for a while that someone is trying to contact me. Now, I set up that account ages ago, when it was all free, and had no idea what the password even was.
Finally, curiosity got the better of me so I reset the password and got in.
It was this guy who was madly in love with me one summer 30 years ago when I was 18 and worked with him. He was a nice guy who smelled awful because he lived in a house with no running water. My friend and I felt bad for him because he was very nice so we were friendly which backfired because he fell completely head over heels in love with me.
I spent over 6 hours in a closet one night when he came by looking for me - I dashed into the closet, told my friend to get rid of him - she let him in, found out about a party somewhere from him, and LEFT HIM THERE with her brother while I sat on a pile of shoes. :nuke:
This is who is trying to contact me.
I am speechless. :wow:

I'm gonna make sure there's not a pile of shoes and an air conditioner in this one, though. :scared:

We were high school sweethearts.
The reconnection has been an absolute nightmare. He won't go away.

6. "He was a nice guy ..." |
|
So what's the problem? Maybe he just wants to say "hi" and see how you're doing...

8. It's not a problem - just weird |
|
He WAS a nice guy.
BUT
We weren't close friends - I only knew him for about 3 months when we worked at the same place. He stopped by our house a couple of times (mostly looking for me) and we gave him a ride home a couple of times. That's all.
Thirty years later, he's looking for me?
That seems weird, especially combined with his absolute infatuation with me at the time. It was never encouraged, not reciprocated and based on nothing but his imagination.
So, yeah, it's weird.

I reacquainted with an old friend toward the end of 2007. I met her in 1967 and we became good friends. We would talk on the phone practically every evening; I would go by her house for visits; and we went out once in the summer of 1973. I left the area to go to college in 1973, and lost contact.
Didn't see her for 34 years, but found out where she worked rather serendipitously in 2004, so when I was in her part of the country in 2007, I stopped in for a surprise visit. Needless to say, she was surprised! We've been communicating by email ever since.
Funny--I never thought of us as "boyfriend/girlfriend" but just good friends. I guess those are the relationships that last! :D

7. Nobody quite like that; a couple of old friends*, yes, but nobody like you said |
|
* Yes, contrary to popular belief, even I had friends! Now if only I had more to life for! :spray:

9. I had lunch with a high school friend last November - we had not seen each other in 31 years |
|
It was great fun. That contact happened through classmates.com. I also once contacted an ex-boyfriend that I hadn't seen in 19 years, but I did that through the mail. That reunion was happy too.

But I was also able to locate my best friend from elementary school, so that was cool.

12. Wow. What an incredible story....! My guess is you aren't interested |
|
in being in contact with him, correct? He sounds like he was obsessed with you rather than in love with you, and I get the sense that you don't think he's entirely stable, emotionally speaking).
Those are both valid and healthy reasons not to contact him in return. At best it sounds like it would end up being an endless chore. At worse it could end up being really really bad for you.

And even if he's grown up to be the most normal and stable person in the world, I don't know this guy - I barely knew him then!
Nope, just plain weird, if you ask me.

15. Yes, just last year actually. |

An old friend from high school sent me a sympathy card when she read that my mother died. Since then, we have exchanged some notes and cards and plan to see each other at the upcoming class reunion. I'm "worried" that she still looks fabulous and I look like an old frump! LOL

16. I actually contacted my high school boyfriend |
|
after not seeing him for 33 years. After ditching our horrible, abusive ex-spouses, we are now happily married, it'll be five years in June.
Of course, we never had the kind of experience you're speaking of here.

18. Yet another reason I can't stand my stupid idiotic family. |
|
Yes, I have had that happen, on more than one occasion and got raped because of my stupid family escorting the bastard right to me.
I successfully managed to avoid that one asshole preaching redneck stalker like the PLAGUE, until guess what?
He contacted my mother and then it was over. If any serial killer, asshole, stalker, redneck, right wing homophobic preacher, or other person I would avoid like the plague manages to contact my mother, my step father, my aunt, or anyone in my family, they will be escorted right to me, even fucking Hannibal Lecter or any rapist can get to me if they merely ask one of my horrible stupid family members. It happened, actually. No matter where I am or how much I say, "HELL, NO! I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO THEM!" My stupid idiotic naive bullshit recklessly endangering family escorts them RIGHT TO ME.
Word got out that I was a lesbian, and that rapist eventually got to rape me too thanks to my mother.
I found out later my mother condoned me being raped. I'll never forgive her either. I hope she's happy with herself with her newfound respect in the county for doing that shit to me. I still hate Richmond County, NC in its entirety to this day for that right wing religious Christian shit too. And while I am at it, FUCK YOU GOD! Thanks for sending your believers to rape me. I can't wait to get to Hell to get away from them.

20. Girl from my high school (14 years ago) sent me a facebook request |
|
We barely knew each other then. I don't think we ever even had a conversation.
Oddly enough, we have more interests in common than I did with most people I was close to back then. We're best of friends now.

They always respond; sometimes I end up on the phone with them. I don't always have much in common with them, after all the years
