Whatever happened to the ocarina?
AKA 'the sweet potato'.

I had one when I was a kid.
Never was very good on it.

1. If it hadn't been for Zelda, most kids these days wouldn't even know the word.
I've got one packed away somewhere.

2. If one were to play the ocarina, one can be transported to a dungeon.

6. I used to have a really nice ocarina.
It was ceramic, with a matte red glaze, nice tone too. Last I saw it, it was in the basement with the harmonicas.

12. Not so much a flute, just a whistle type instrument that's enclosed rather than open
ended like a recorder.

Which gives it a very plain tone, much like the recorder, but it's a bit more mellow.

9. One of my kids
has three or four of 'em...all ceramic, but different styles and colors. They can sound pretty nice when he puts his mind to it.

13. And no one's mentioned The Troggs yet
I'm guessing ( but only guessing) Wild Thing has the only ocarina solo in the history of rock and/or roll.

14. Best place to buy good ocarinas, still made of
clay, and they're real musical instruments is Lark in the Morning:
