http://wbztv.com/local/one.drink.hour.2.935713.htmlState Liquor Law Enforcement Chief Eddie Edwards suggests that bar and restaurant owners would only serve one drink per hour, four at a sitting. According to the paper, Edwards defines one drink as an ounce of spirits, 5 ounces of wine or 12 ounces of beer. "Here's the criteria - you can only consume so much alcohol," Edwards told the paper. "If I give you four, five drinks an hour, you should know that this makes someone intoxicated.":wtf:
This guy is absolutely out of control. He's a neo-prohibitionist who thinks alcohol consumption is inherently wrong, yet he is in charge of enforcing the state's badly written liquor laws and regulations.
Eddie's proposal is a response to a proposal sponsored by Sen. martha Fuller Clark of Portsmouth. The bill sponsored by Sen. Clark would add "knowingly" to the existing law against serving an intoxicated patron. As it stands now, the liquor cops (yes, they have their own police force) can write up a bar pretty much on a whim. They trot out the "overserving" card when they can't find an underaged patron or some other flagrant foul.
