Police: Text message about drug deal accidentally sent to cop

When sending a text message to arrange a drug deal, it’s a good idea to dial carefully.

Police say that was not the case for a 20-year-old Sheboygan woman, who was arrested Thursday night after misdialing and texting details on a drug deal to an off-duty Sheboygan police officer.

The officer received the message about 8:30 p.m. setting up a transaction for 8:45 p.m. outside the Sheboygan County Detention Center, said Lt. Scott Mittelstadt. The woman who sent it is jailed on forgery charges but had been released for the evening to attend a group meeting, he said.

The officer immediately alerted on-duty officers, who arrived at the designated spot just in time to see a 20-year-old man hand-deliver the prescription painkiller Oxycodone, police said. Both people were arrested.

Police will ask that the pair be charged with narcotic possession and delivery.
