Why am I not surprised?

I have an issue that I have been dealing with for a while. My therapist suggested that a write an email to a certain well-known person who specializes in this area. So, yesterday i did. I explained my issue and asked for suggestions. I got a response back saying that I should buy his book and a link to his website to buy his book.

1. Well, thats really not that surprising.

If I had written a book on a subject, say "How to make gold out of shit", and then you emailed me and asked me "how do you make gold out of shit"? I would probably ask you to buy my book instead of giving you the answer in an email.

Of course, your question could have completely been off the topic of his book, but then why would you have written him about it?

but the question is a small part of what might be in the book.
