Do any of you use Skype? I'm thinking of downloading it, |
|
but would like some feedback first. Does it work well for you? If so, I think I'll try to talk my dad into getting it, so we can chat.

It works well IMO. My brother uses it to talk to my niece in Moscow.

5. I've never used it but |

I know other people who do and they all seem happy with it.
I wonder if I can talk my sister into getting it... she's in another state and we talk all the time.

6. My daughter and I use Skype |
|
She is in Illinois and I am in Michigan. We also have webcams so that we can see each other as well. Often times, my 13 month old grandson is sitting in his high chair right in front of the computer. He recognizes his Nana... Is this too much information :-)

Not many problems at all since we went from DSL to Cable internet. It was a bit choppy at low DSL speeds, though.

9. LOVE IT! Download it, by all means |
|
Also, if you can, buy a good -quality headset, just makes talking easier. I have one by Plantronics.
We talk to Europe a lot, and it's fantastic to know it's free! We also add credit to the account (via credit card or paypal) and call landline numbers -- it's a low cost way to talk. I think for something like $2.95 per month you can make calls all throughout NAmerica ...
Don't hesitate - it's really wonderful. Wasn't great at first, but now they're on version 4, I believe, and the system works really well.

10. I used it religiously for about 3 months in 2005.. |
|
but I haven't used it since. The call quality is acceptable, and all you need is a pair of headphones and a mic (if your comp doesn't have a built in one). There are computer phone accessories available at Walmart and Best Buy, if you are looking in that direction.

11. I call my girlfriend in New Zealand every week. |
|
Without it, we likely wouldn't be as close as we are :)
Also, back when we were learning about all the TelCos handing over all of our call information to the govmint? Well, Skype does not do that and has stated they never will! :D

I have a friend in Canada(A DU'er) who I call via skype from my computer to her landline. I save a lot of money with it.Specially when you talk 2-3 hours at a time like we do. Three bucks a month beats the hell out of several hundred bucks.
