He just creeps me out and Harry Dean Stanton just owns that part.

I can't think of anyone creepier. And the fact that there are real life 'prophets' like Grant out there in the world is just :scared:

3. True but they aren't on Big Love every week
and why does that woman wear a suit and dress like a man.

It was weird how the pig was sniffing her up last week.

And you notice their leader calls her "Brother."

(I can't remember either of their names.)

6. Sigh. I miss HBO.
Actually, I could care less about the movies that they play to death on there. But most of their original programming is top notch.

Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 10:32 AM by charlie and algernon
He's one creepy Mofo who ALWAYS seems to turn up where ever you go. And I still think his creepiest scenes were when he was a "prisoner" in the hatch.

8. That was the creepy character that came to my mind.
Michael Emerson deserves an Emmy for creating such a creepy character.

19. I don't know who the bigger hypocrite is - Alby or Heather
both of them are closeted homosexuals. When Heather was blasting Sarah about how "everyday she struggles with her beliefs when she is around Sarah" you know it's not because Sarah is from a Polygamist family or had premarital sex but the fact that Heather is in love with Sarah and of course, homosexuality is a major sin with the Mormon faith.

because he's the new Prophet actually making sure no one else can do what he does. (tap tap) Heather's a confused kid & probably doesn't even recognize that she's in love with Sarah. :)

21. When he asked....
Selma to sit next to him on the bed, the "creep" factor was huge! :scared: And when it turned out she was his sister, it went through the roof! :D

My like/hate relationship with that series and the characters continues. I find most of the characters (including Bill and his wives) completely reprehensible. I have a great deal of sympathy for the oldest daughter and son, and wish they would run as far away from their crazy ass family as possible.

There are so many bombs planted out there, ready to detonate at any moment -- Nicky and the DA, Margie and the oldest son, the birth control thing, the Roman/ Alby power struggle -- the last few episodes are going to be a (painful) blast.

24. I wish there was more backstory especially with how Bill & Barb turned to polygamy
they both didn't marry intending to be polygamists. The history was basically that Barb had uterine cancer and was not expected to live and that Nikki Grant was to replace Barb as the wife - except that Barb lived. And Margene, clearly she came from a broken home and probably had such low self-esteem of herself that she bought into this convoluted family that she could be a polygamist.

There is so much to learn about this family which is why I watch every week.

HBO and Showtime have the best series (and no commercials) and HBO movies are always awesome.

26. I think their history will unfold...
over time, as we have been seeing with Nikki's character in particular. The last few epsiodes -- discovering her prior marriage, how she was taking BC, her flirtation with the DA, her tripping of her father -- was the first one I actually felt sympathy for Nikki and what a seriously fucked up life she had been raised to lead.

Poor Margie -- I wanted to cry for her -- you could feel her suffocating. She's such a spirit, her life seems like a prison to me.

As much as I am torn about this show, I'll be tuning in to watch -- I can't stay away. :D

27. Last night I saw a part of Margene
I think she's starting to realize what a mess she got herself into and between the death of her trampy mother Ginger and Ana bolting from the family, Margene feels really alone. I don't think the Zoloft is going to help her cause. But the poor girl has had little family structure in her lifetime and now in something that is overly structured. I think Margene finally getting out and getting a job will be good for her.

I think the show has about 2 more years left in it and somehow, someway it'll all end up with just Barb & Bill in the end.

But Nikki just shows everything that is wrong with these fundie groups and not just the Mormons. To be taught such a limiting education and lifestyle - when Nikki was (what I'm assuming ) kicked out of the fold, this whole new world opened to her that she was not able to cope with. I'd love to see Nikki break free of this lifestyle and find real happiness because she's not going to get it living the life of a sister-wife.

30. I was soooo grossed out...
when Barb was talking to Nikki about the whole purpose of her entering the marriage was to essentially be a broodmare for The Family. Christ, it just made my skin crawl. Bleck. It will be interesting to see how Nikki deals with the pressure for her to produce more offspring, and will it fall to Margie or a #4 to continue the breeding. I really want her to bust out of her cage.

I do wonder how Nikki came to Bill -- if she was send by Roman, or Bill took pity on her after she got kicked out. There's an interesting story there, I am sure.
