Weird karma
Like many people, I keep a To Do list. Actually, I have a lot of them because I keep misplacing them. One item of interest for this week was "call around to see who can grind out the old barberry stumps where my wife wants to put in an herb garden." Okay, it actually read "call grinder guys". This item was placed on the list Monday morning during my "reflection period" where I read the comics and then write out a list of everything I need to do this week and probably won't get to. :hurts:

A couple of hours ago, someone rang the door bell. The border collie decided he was a space alien or something else that needed to be destroyed, so I had to go out through the garage to speak with the man (and yes, I locked the front door - but I doubt anyone would challenge the dogs!) He had a pickup with a trailer and a self-propelled stump grinder thing. He had noticed the stump to our pear tree and offered to take it out. We're letting that grow back, so I declined - and then    So I asked him how much to do the barberry stumps. There were about 8 of them and they are nasty suckers, but he said $100 for the whole group. I said okay and they took care of it then and there. I thought it would be a lot more than that, so I was pleased. My wife's going to get the herb garden this year. If they hadn't stopped by, I would probably have found that item on a lost "to do" list sometime in October.
