FUCK YOU flickr!
Fuck you for taking my photos and holding them for ransom unless I paid your fucking $25. Yeah, I paid it. Hubby called screaming at me when he got the email about it, too.

Fuck, fuck, fuck.

My good mood is ruined... and possibly my evening too.

And, yeah, I am going to close my fucking flickr as soon as I get all my edited pics off of it. And you're never getting another fucking dime from me.

Sure, times are hard. Sure, you have less advertising. But I'm going to fucking laugh when you have to shut down your fucking asshole site because everybody else got tired of being fucked with too.

Here is one more... fuck you flickr.

That is all.

:grr:

1. That was a little ambiguous. Can you tell us how you REALLY feel?
I keep getting e-mails with "check out these pictures on Flickr" and I refuse to register. Screw that noise.

3. Be glad you never joined it
When they decided to make it a rip-off, pay every year site, I must have missed the fine print that said they'd take 3/4 my pics and make them disappear unless I paid them.

20. Yes, you must have.

It's too bad you had to listen to a screaming idiot asshole on the phone making a giant fool of himself, because he missed the pretty goddamn blatant big print when you signed up for a pro account.

/fixed to clarify the screaming idiot asshole

4. Why do people upload to these sites
directly from their camera? I save mine in my hard drive and then upload to photobucket. If this happens there, the most I'll lose is the ability to post them somewhere.

5. My pics are on a hard drive...
but I've edited them on flickr, like an idiot. I should have used iPhoto to edit them. It was stupid, I'll admit.

7. You aren't stupid! You just stumbled upon one of the biggest drawbacks of "cloud" computing.
Why on earth people are falling all over themselves to give remote third parties control of their data and content I'll never understand...

Sorry to hear you got ripped off. :(

12. Photobucket has rejected a lot of my photos for 'use violations'
which are so vaguely worded I'm tempted to leave them.

Censorious little bastards.

Flikr has never once done that to me.

21. Violations on photobucket are a certainity if you post certain pictures on DU.
I believe there's an entire brigade of prudish thought police scanning DU for Photobucket terms of service violations. Photobucket's definition of "nudity" is very much broader than my own.

Nevertheless I've seen some really nasty pictures stay up on photobucket for years, probably because these are not posted to boards where the thought police hang out looking to be offended.

9. They don't tell you in giant text to save everything to your own computer...
The first thing I do whenever I upload or modify anything on flickr or photobucket is to save it on my local drive. I hate losing stuff whenever a provider goes out of business or turns ugly. It's happened to me a few times.

I've got a couple of websites of my own so it's very easy to upload or download as many photos as I want with a few mouse clicks. Keeping your own website is the only way to go if you can afford it.

I edit all my photos with GIMP or irfanview. Both are free.

If you can't afford your own site you have to back up your work on your own machines because no free internet service is going to care about it as much as you do. All of them tell you in the fine print they can delete your work for any reason.

Loosing your work on someone else's website is rotten. Pressuring customers to pay more than they expected is rotten too.

Good Luck!

19. Wow. I've gone waaaaaay past that and never got that message.
Recently emptied 4 full Flikr accounts and put everything at photobucket. They were all over limit.

As soon as I had emptied them enough, I started seeing pix I hadn't seen (and had forgotten) in years.

so you could get to your pictures?

That sucks.
