15. I could say Connecticut because I live there
:7
However, we frequently vacation in New Hampshire and I think it's simply beautiful there. I have a love and hate relationship with my home state (well, my home state for the past 17 years anyway).

16. 2004 is the year of Mass Hysteria
Massachusetts is a gay marriage battleground.

The convention is here this summer, bars in Boston will be open until 4am, Kerry will be nominated for the presidency within walking distance of his home...

Then the Sox will beat the Yanks in the ALCS.

Then Kerry will win in November, rounding out a year in which Massachusetts becomes not only the best state in New England, but the best in the whole U.S. of A.

17. Best How? Nature? B&B's? Jobs? Houses? Transportation?
And why do they call it "Rhode Island" if it isn't really an island?

18. There are a few different explanations.
"Some claim the name was first used by the Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524, when he compared Block Island (in the southern part of the state) to the island of Rhodes in the Mediterranean.

Other historians maintain the name is a corruption of Roodt Eylandt (Red Island), the title applied to Aquidneck Island (the Native American name for the land) because of the red clay on its shore."

http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20000802.html

I'd never heard either of those explanations, and I've lived here my whole life. I was always told that the area used to be called "Rhode Island and Providence Plantations," and I guess that was a little too lengthy for our taste when we became a state.

21. That would be New Hampshire

Right in the middle of everything - just a short jaunt to Boston from southern NH, and little farther to L.L. Bean. Not much traffic, fairly low cost of living, gainful employment available - and great golf courses!

Can't wait till we can move back there...
