I feel like crap update: The doc says this is bronchitis. |
|
Went to the doc, she says this wheezyness is bronchitis. I feared it was pneumonia, but she says it isn't. I did ask her if there's something wrong with my immune system, since it seems like I've been sick so much. She said having the flu/pneumonia in November and a bad cold that settles in my chest (which she said is what bronchitis really is) in March isn't really that unusual. She pointed out that it's been 5 months since my pneumonia. She's not concerned about it.
She said "Your pneumonia seems like it was just yesterday because you felt so bad. That just means you'll get your flu shot next year." Yeah, I suppose.
Anyway, tomorrow I just have office hours, so I am going to work. I can't lay around forever....but I was glad today was my day off.
'Night, DU.
And thanks for the vibes.

2. She gave me an antibiotic and told me to take Mucinex, |
|
which I took when I had pneumonia, too. I feel MUCH better than I did with the flu/pneumonia...not even in the same ball park. So, I should be careful to rest enough. I should compare it to feeling well, not to having pneumonia.
It took Mrs. R two weeks, huh? Geez, I was hoping it wouldn't take anywhere near that long. I'm glad she's well, though.
At least I haven't cracked any ribs coughing, yet. THAT was the worst part of the pneumonia.
Thansks, Robeson. :hi:

3. Correcting myself...It's not an antibiotic, the Rx drug is a pain pill, |
|
relafen. My doc doesn't prescribe anti-b's very much. I'm guessing this is for chest pain, says to take it "as needed for pain, no more than 1 every 6 hours".
I should be resting...:hi:

Bronchitis could be a virus OR a bacterium. If it's a virus an antibiotic won't help..ya just have to rest and wait it out.
I had bacterial pneumonia/bronchitis off and on for five years, many years ago. It wouldn't break up and come up when I coughed so the doc had to put me under a general, roll me into surgery and vacuum the gunk out of my lungs. Saved my life four times.
Hope yours is not nearly that bad.
If the gunk is white, it's a virus. If it's yellow or green, then it's a bacterium. Just FYI.
