23. Having worked for the Amherst DPW

I can tell you all about them and actually show you where they are.

They used to have the Salamander Xing signs but after some no-talent jam band named "Salamander Crossing" made it big in smelly hippy world they started disappearing faster than they could be replaced.

Prior to the construction of the crossings, a bunch of hippies used to gather on the westish side of the road to scoop up the salamanders to escort to the other side for (mating?).

BTW I would totally have been on the salamander relocation hippy crew, so watch it! ;) And yeah, it's for the breeding migration in the spring. Generally these guys, spotted salamanders, because they all go on a few specific nights so there can be lots of mortality from traffic. :(
