20. I once had a "Baby Jane" watching party
I mailed out the invitations one week before Bette Davis died, having no idea that she was about to die. I think more people came to it because of the fact that she had just died. People were encouraged to dress as their favorite character, though only a few did. We had snacks related o things in the film (gummy rats, etc.) and my friend made up a trivia quiz based on things in the film. People filled out the quiz as best they could before the film, then the answers were revealed as we watched the film, and then at the end people totaled up how many they got right, and the winner got a VHS copy of it (this was before DVDs). It was fun but I wouldn't do it again today.

17. They just don't make films like that any more...
mainly I guess because powerhouse actress/personalities like that aren't around any more, and Hollywood is too hung up on remakes and special effects to bother with such trivialities as good scripts and good acting.

21. Actually they have already...
Original (1962): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056687/

TV remake (1991): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103242/

I have seen both and the remake was vastly inferior to the original.

24. No worries - I'm glad I may have saved you the trouble of watching the wrong one
The one with Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Victor Buono and Madie Norman is the one to watch.

Both should have won Oscars for this film. Bette Davis especially.

15. Story I read was that Joan was so jealous that Bette was nominated and she wasn't,
that Joan made agreements with the other 4 actresses nominated, that if they couldn't attend the ceremony in person, she would accept the award on their behalf. Sure enough, Anne Bancroft won for "The Miracle Worker" and Joan accepted the award for her and was unable to hide her glee at the fact that Bette did not win (and she was sitting in the audience). But if Joan had been nominated for Supporting Actress, then they both could have walked away with Oscars that night - but with 2 divas I guess that can never happen.

"But you are, Blanche! You ARE in that wheelchair!"

Those two dames could really light up a screen ...............

25. Rumors are that they hated each other, so that the tension and roughness was real
I don't know how true it is, but apparently there was no love lost between the two, and it might just show in this film.

27. Oh, yeah, they did -
that's a well-known rivalry in Hollywood history. I mean, those babes made no bones about hating each other, but they worked together so damn beautifully, you just have to admire their incredible professionalism.

At the risk of sounding older than dirt, they really don't make actresses like them any more, and we are the poorer for it. Amazing talents.
