Will COBRA be extended?
I lost my job and became self employed in February a year ago and have been paying COBRA for dental insurance ever since. I figure I have four months left of dental under COBRA (since it lasts for 18 months) and am suddenly faced with massive -- and I do mean MASSIVE -- dental work that will take at least a year to complete. Needless to say I'm absolutely devastated. As a self employed artist, I make a pittance and am not able to save the tens of thousands of dollars I'll need.

So...what options do you guys know of? Is there any chance COBRA will be extended, as unemployement has been, in these difficult times? Any and all thoughts appreciated.

3. Sorry, couldn't resist
Can't help you re: COBRA, alas. All I know is that when I was terminated from my job, my employer suggested it as replacement for my health insurance, but it appeared to cost more than my unemployment compensation, so I didn't look at it any further.
