I'm on pins and needles, waiting for them to post the grades from Final Exams. Ask me anything. |
|
Especially if it takes my mind off the wait... :scared:

4. Spring Break Clinic, starting on Monday. Time to jump in and see if I can actually swim. |
|
Fortunately, my preceptor will not be a stranger, but the Physician Assistant I've been working with for the past three years. He is a mind-bogglingly gifted teacher. I'm looking forward to it. And after next Friday, two whole weeks off before Spring Quarter begins... :bounce:

7. Every one. Two hours early. Extra studying time... |
|
I was joking that among ultra-competitive Physician Assistant students (self-competitive, not with each other...) the pre-test warmup is almost like an athletic event; power-dancing in the locker room, trash-talking the exam, lot of shoulder-chucking and fist-bumping. I said to a fellow student yesterday before the last exam: "Let's kick this bastard in the balls and go party!" I got a text from a fellow student at another campus: "Let's ROCK this bitch!"
Hope all of that worked...
Still waiting for the grades...
B-)

|
AARRRRGGHHH! :banghead::banghead::banghead:
This is really going to screw up my Spring Break Clinical rotation...
DAMNDAMNDAMNDAMNDAMNDAMN!!!!!
Every other Final was an improvement over the Mid-Term, too! 100% on my Tech Skills Final. 90% on Emergency Med., an improvement of 5 points. 88% on Maternity and Child Care; up by 1 point over the Mid-Term. 85% on Adult Med, up 4 points over the Mid-Term.
Why can't I crack Pharmacology???...

26. Mid-Term: 74%; Final: 75%. 80% or better is passing. |
|
Yeah, I can re-take it. I'm re-taking the Mid-Term on Monday. Review for the Final re-test is Wednesday, and the re-test is on Thursday.
But all of that is going to take a day and a half out of my clinical rotation. I don't know where to make up the difference; I've got non-refundable tickets to Victoria B.C. leaving April 1st.
As Bulldog on 'Fraiser' used to say: "This SUCKS! This is TOTALLY BOGUS!!!"

30. This sucks. I've lost my mojo! How can I be a P.A. if I can't write prescriptions? |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 10:08 PM by Aristus
I'll just be the world's most overeducated Medical Assistant!
I got an 90% on Emergency Med! 88% on Maternity and Child Health! So many others failed that one that they had to break the re-test into two groups! Why can't I bring the goods to Pharmacology? :banghead:
Two of my classmates who failed the Mid-Term speak English as their second language. They have a pretty good excuse for blowing it. Not to mention how incredible it is that they're even taking the program in a language other than their native one! What's my excuse???

Any number of things could be involved...
I'd think just the sheer number of exams could do it.
You are going to succeed. I know it.
Can you talk to your instructor about possible reasons for your performance?
It's very normal to rage and be upset...It's part of grieving...
Hang in there.
You WILL succeed.

I thought flunking the Mid-Term was a way of keeping me humble and focussed. Sheesh! The last two weeks, I've been focussed like the emitter array on an electron microscope! And now to flunk the Final? Arrrgh!
I'm sorry for the pity-party, CalPeg; before Mid-Terms, I hadn't failed an exam in what seems like a geological era. (Actually, I failed an on-line test during the prelim course, but I don't count that. ;-) )

SWEET!
Laughing. I'm in the exact state of mind that makes your revelation v. pleasing.
I've decided not to pursue the P.A. avenue. I have a few reasons, congenital deafness and a tremor of the hands (not yet noticeable, but definitely starting to appear) being two of them. And I think I'd be very good at counseling. Here in the state there is a desperate need for people with even minimal qualifications. It's always been my dream and now I think perhaps I'll follow through.
Do not imagine this segue into my career aspirations has taken my attention from your pjs. I am a simple girl. :P
You'll do FINE!!!!
