1. No chastisement here
I'm right there with you--I've been sick with a fever for several days and have lived on nothing but bagels and cinnamon toast--simple-carbapalooza.

Just beg forgiveness of the fiber gods and say three Hail Steel-Cut Oats prayers for your penance.

Go in peace, my child. O8)

2. It can mess with your blood sugar, but...
I am not going to chastise you, no way. See how you feel as the day goes on, that is what is most important.

6. Maybe get some protein now.
Stave off ravenous. And stop beating yourself up, it doesn't help.

4. Cheerios and fat-free milk (don't add sugar or fruit)
Or egg beaters and whole grain toast. Those stay with me for the first four hours of my work day and I'm not starving when lunch time rolls around.

7. I usually slap some almond or cashew butter onto/into my simple carbs.
Adds calories, but slows the carbo-blast. It also fills me up quicker and reduces the sweetness of the treat which helps my addiction.

9. I can't chastize you, either.
After vowing to give up soda, I have recently developed a taste for those 100-calorie Coca-Colas in the little 8-oz. cans. I only have one a day (if that) but I sooo do not need that! :(
