1. Beag and Mick
Beag is much bigger now. She was 4 months old in that photo. Now, she's 8 months and looks like a grown dog.

Mick, with his messed up paw last year

I remember my Hutch having a "cast" for a ripped off toenail! And it bled all over the place, bless his heart RIP!

4. Yep, and it got infected
He went through a phase last year where he ended up at the vet four times for stupid paw injuries. I'm glad he grew out of that habit.

37. How did you keep your dog from chewing off his
bandage?

Mine had to wear a lampshade thingy until she healed.

93. He attacked just about everyone there when they were putting it on
But once it was on, he left it alone.

I had to muzzle him to get it off. He doesn't handle his feet being touched.

105. Yes, because the typical dog just sits there while you cut a bandage off
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 09:27 AM by HarukaTheTrophyWife
He listens to me the vast majority of the time. I'm not going to say he's in charge of me, because he didn't want his injured foot messed with.

:eyes:

Actually, I'd love to see you try taking a bandage off him.

110. None at the moment. I've had Chihuahuas to Great Danes, but...
mostly Chows. My vet once told me he could identify the dogs from my kennel that were brought to him by the way they responded to their owners. If someone wanted one of my dogs they listened to me instruct them in how to raise it.

114. Well, there's a big difference between obedience
And, the reactions of a Border Collie (very different than Chows) in pain.

Somebody who ran a "kennel" should know that.

111. Lovely pic...
...and while Rusty's a great subject, you must have a pretty good trigger finger to be able to catch him in flight like that. Give yourself credit...:applause:

I've tried to take pics of my owners cats when I had access to a camera, and even when I was RIGHT THERE and had the gizmo in my hands and pointed the right way, it was tough to catch them doing anything but blinking or looking away...
and incredibly bored by the whole process...

"Oh, Bast...not the flashy thing again :eyes:...
I don't know why I put up with this, except she's usually pretty good about the supplying food, water, door service and warmblooded furniture on demand..."

48. I doubt a "point and shoot" camera will get that much detail.
I would guess that's a DSLR, shot at about 500 to 1000 shutter speed. The "sports" setting on a point and shoot may get close to that though, just depends on the camera's capabilities. Good luck, can't wait to see your bird.:hi:

50. When it is time for bed, I ask her if she wants to go night-night....
Then I ask her if she wants to fly to mommy and do some flap-flaps. She does her wing spread signifiying she is ready and then she does her potty in the trashcan I have next to us.

I am in a split level so I place her on the arm of the couch downstairs and walk upstairs so she can see me, but I am on the opposite end of the house. She LOVES being able to fly to me.

13. Here's the entire pride. All were ferals except for Hobbes.
Mu, the Tux, and his sister Missy, the gray and white long hair, the kitties in my sigline.

Jeff, the gray ring-tailed Tabby and his brother Mutt-mutt, the brown Tabby. Mutt-mutt had a fractured right femur, a fractured and displaced pelvis, and a tail fractured in two places when we finally got him to come inside. He's our special guy.

My son's old Tom, Hobbes. He's fifteen and like a grandpa to all the younger kitties. They all love him.

Marble, my son's female Tux. She is jealous whenever any of the other kitties, except Hobbes, comes anywhere near my son. She'll even hiss at his girlfriend if she thinks she is getting too much attention from him.

Makes up for him sleeping on my head and pawing at my face to wake me up. (I wouldn't have declawed him but he came to us that way at 5 years, he's 8 now... but his pawing me in the face makes me glad he is.)

The last picture was from when I got back from a trip -- as soon as I unpacked but before I had the suitcase put away he claimed it as his bed. I think he decided if he slept in it I couldn't leave again, or would have to take him with me! He would have hated the airplane though....

33. Aw, declawed.
I know it's cruel but sometimes I wish...My Madimi (pics below in the thread) is not declawed. I would never do it and yet...in the dark of the dawn when I am trying desperately to squeeze out one more half-hour of sleep....I feel the *very gentle and sublimely threatening* scritch of one tiny little needle claw RIGHT at that sensitive spot at the small of my back, and know that the true torture will commence soon if I don't get up and feed her.

My ex's cat liked to insinuate himself into our suitcases before we left for a trip, burrowing under clothes and curling up, apparently hoping to stow away. As if that extra 20 pounds of weight wouldn't be noticed at check-in. :D

here's my stray cat alpha female hunter-killer

yes, she does drink Keystone from time to time. :D

she is the most efficient, ruthless, and athletic hunter-killer i've ever seen. very independent, but for some reason she loves to sit on the kitchen table chair and watch me cook. (haven't figured that out yet)

And he thanks you for noticing. :)

Most cats have a degree of arrogance, but I think Franky heard "such a pretty kitty" one too many times. The boy poses, I swear.

84. Ginger poses, too, I'm afraid.
Edited on Sat Mar-28-09 12:56 PM by Heidi
My mother-in-law recently redressed the issue of Ginger's comely manners in a most inelegant way: "Ginger is spoiled to the point of believing he is the center of the universe." (This, of course, from the woman who allows my cat to jump on top of her armoir, rub up against costly-and-delicate paintings, tapestries and small ceramic and iron sculptures because "If I look away, he won't show off and nothing bad will happen." He NEVER does that stuff at home -- but his "grandmother" allows it. )

My reply: "Your _other_ grandchildren haven't been spoiled to same degree?"

P.S. Franky has his daddy's beautiful eyes. :D

87. Awwww ...

They're his great-grandmother's. :)

Franky has manners. He makes absolutely sure each and every inch of the entire house has been rooted out and cleaned of all possible intruders, even if that means pulling out everything from the cabinets and checking behind every picture frame. He does this on a daily basis, he's so committed. He is being nothing but the mannerly gentleman when he goes through each and every bag looking for threads when I bring in the groceries. That lingering moment with the chicken wings was just to be extra careful.

As for his claws and the couch? That's art. He is just trying to brighten my day by giving me beautiful things.

Yes, very mannerly cat. :)

79. Yes, he does. And it's sometimes shocking for our female guests,
or even for tourists walking along the street outside our driveway. Last summer, I heard an old woman laughing at the end of the drive, and walked out my studio door to see a very nice old German woman in a long skirt -- sticking out from the bottom of her skirt was Ginger's tail. Her husband was laughing to split a gut.

Ginger and Petey are practically twins, aren't they, even in physical appearance?

86. And he apparently _knows_ it.
It's true that Ginger has a lot of personality. It's also true that he's probably the most photographed cat (besides Mo) at DU. But there something else that CMW and I see but don't quite understand -- it's like Ginger _tries_ to be "naughty" or annoying sometimes.

Here's an example. Our neighbors are "holiday" people: they live near Zurich but own a "holiday home" next door to us here in Ticino. Ten months out of the year, their property is Ginger's playground. Every late spring, though, when they come down here to open their vacation home for the summer, and Ginger sits beside their pool, _daring_ them to approach him. On one hand, it's funny. On the other hand ... I wouldn't wanna be them.

Sprocket tried to IGNORE her for the 1st

Oh, that and peeing on the floors.
