Ok, Tell Me... Is This One Of The Most Disrespectful Things You've Ever Seen Or What?
Edited on Sat Mar-28-09 07:57 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
Everything was peaceful in my house until all of a sudden my 3 and 5 yr olds were crying because the 'tv was broken'. When I went in to see what they meant, I saw the following on my screen (pic below). Never in my life have I seen such a dismissive note on a cable network as to why they are off the air. How do you explain this to a 5 yr old that's crying, as to why the show isn't on? I've just never in my life come across something like this and it totally pissed me off. I'm not one to be petty and complain about stupid shit, which is why I'm curious if I'm overreacting or not. All I know is it pissed me off enough that I actually sent an email to them voicing my displeasure; which is something I very RARELY do. But I wanted to share the screen print with you. Look at it below and tell me: Is that the most dismissive and bullshit thing you've ever seen on your tv for an outage or what?

Ok, rant over. Just was in disbelief that they take their network off the air just so that you'll watch the kids choice awards on nick instead. What bullshit! Anyway, here it is:

12. They Read More Than Enough, Thank You.
But they are allowed to watch tv for a little before bed. Just couldn't believe the rudeness on the part of the network is all.

16. Well when MY tv got uppity I got so upset that I had to shoot it.
Then I had me a couple of deep fried peanut butter and banana samiches just like mama used to make just to calm me down.

4. While I understand your kids being upset
This would be a good opportunity to explain to them about things that *really* matter!

This could be a potential leaning tool.

6. Maybe if they called you names or something in the note.
Like if they wrote it

Hey Assholes!

Its Nicktoons Network.

Listen, go fuck yourself we went to the kids choice awards and we'll be back on when we damn well feel like it.

Piss Off,
NN

That would be disrespectful.

The way it reads, that's like exactly what they're saying. Just never seen something like that before is all. It was like one big FU lol.

7. Maybe you should talk to your TV's parents to complain.
And next time lay down some clear ground-rules when your TV comes over to babysit your kids.

8. Is that serious? Jebus, talk about corporations trying to dictate choice.
Hey, you, we've got this show over here, and if you want to watch ANY of our content, that's it.

So there, kiddies. Now go learn about our other products.

13. It's a pretty petty way of making their ratings higher
We have enough kid channels that AALette wouldn't be upset. Also, "Dirty Jobs" is on, so she would be easy to distract with that one. :D

Sorry your kids are upset!

14. It's pretty lame, but I wouldn't call rank it among the most disrespectful things I've seen
(not even if we limit it to things seen on TV). Just another example of a corporation trying to be clever and funny, and failing miserably...

18. Yeah, I Guess That Was An Exaggeration.
I guess I was just taken aback by the obviousness of their intent and how nonchalant they were in enacting it. I've just never seen anything like that before. After I read it I was like "are you kidding me? WTF is that all about?". It was just so dismissive in a way and such an FU, and it ticked me off that their complete selfishness was responsible for my kid crying. Have you ever seen a network cancel all of its shows just so you tune into one of their affiliate stations that has a show on they want to make sure you watch? I've just never seen such a thing is all.

23. Definitely a crap move. I don't even have kids, but I think even I'd figure out
that young children aren't going to get the 'joke.'

It seems kind of odd - I've seen associated networks show the same program simultaneously, but I don't see the rational for what NN did. It's not like it costs less to broadcast the 'screw you, kids!' than to just put the award show on both channels. The only thing I can come up with is that the award thing was on a pay-per-view or a more expensive cable channel, but this was not the way to encourage people to buy/upgrade...

15. No. And here's how you explain it:
"The people who put the shows on TV think you should watch something else tonight. Isn't that stupid that they think they can decide? Well, instead of listening to what they have to say, we will decide what we do tonight."

20. I think that's a pretty shitty thing to do to their demographic.
Hell's bells a lot of those little guys aren't even reading yet. Okay, let's just say for a minute that this is a pithy, quirky note and doesn't mean anything. Kids are creatures of habit at your boys' ages and I think that they could have gotten their point across (whatever it was, I admit it's lost on me) without that.

I admit I'm sensitive tonight. My friend is here for the week with her 7yo and her 12 yo with Down Syndrome, so admittedly, I'm counting on stuff like Nick at Nite.

22. how weird
In hindsight, at least they're not airing the actual award show on Nicktoons. My daughter was watching it when The Rock came on stage dressed like Miley Cyrus and asked her if she was wearing a thong too.

:wtf:

They should still have the regular stuff on, IMO.
