1. Use it for work and personal |
|
Pay $10/mo for Tracfone 50 minute plan. Usually have minutes to carry over. I don't use it just for yattering like most people. Don't text or email on it. No camera and I like it that way.

|
It's just for personal use. I need to be reachable if anything happens with my kids.

6. Yep. Personal. Must have. |
|
I text more than I make phone calls, though. Probably 10 or even 20 to 1.

7. Technically I'd call it 'work'. |
|
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 10:21 PM by DarkTirade
I only got it after I moved up here. I moved up here to take care of my grandpa. When I started taking classes and working too, that's when it got to the point where I NEEDED to be able to get in touch with home and vice versa.
... so I got one that was shiny and purple. :P
I actually rarely use it as a phone for personal use. All my friends are geeks, so texting is for personal use, calling is for necessity. And I didn't have a texting plan when I started, I originally got it just for necessity. The texting package I added later.

my account has 5 of the goddamn things, one kid pays her bill, one works it off, one is...ahem anyway it runs $170 a month or so for all of 'em unlimited talk/text. We are 15 miles from the nearest town/help and drive shitty vehicles on shitty roads. I HATE walking. I use it for work and personal, even though I really hate talking to anybody but my sister.

12. Personal... but it's a pre-paid, and it is our primary telecommunication device. |
|
We have no land-line phone, and are out of the house during the hours that LyricKid is in school, so we have to be in touch with the school when they need us.

13. I was going to ask so many questions in the OP. Like "Do you think it's safe?" |
|
I'd bet many use them and don't give a second thought about their safety.
I sell them. And I use one. But only when necessary, and I keep the calls very, very short.

14. Use it for business and personal. And I'm a freelancer so it's good to be able to check |
|
my emails no matter where I am. You never know when a job will come up, and clients never seem to remember that you told them "I'll be out all afternoon tomorrow, so email me in the morning if you need anything."

|
That's the only real reason I ever use it. I use email, Myspace, FB, and DU for most of my communication, including local real life friends. It's just easier that way.

I don't have a land line anymore; haven't in a couple of years, so my personal cell phone is my only phone.
At work, I do have a land line, but also a cell phone, which I take with me when I go out on appointments.

24. I own a cell phone because my kids gave me a cell phone. It's a |

prepaid phone and I rarely use it, although I do keep it charged and with me. It makes them feel better to know that I have one in case of emergency. I would not have one if left to my own devices.

30. Technically, I have 3.... |
|
One is work-provided (AT&T).
One is my "home" phone- after I got divorced, I got a new Verizon account and don't intend on having a landline again.
Finally, I have my OnStar phone, which is on a family-share plan with my Verizon account. It's nice to be able to use the phone in the car and not have a dorky bluetooth thing hanging on my ear! But it probably looks like I'm talking to myself in the car!

I don't use my landline phone - we keep it for satellite TV updates and our security system only.
My cell phone is my primary source of communication with most people. I carry it all the time.
