Question for "2001: A Space Odyssey" buffs
I watched the dvd last night. Haven't seen it in several years, but as I recall, the Pan Am and Howard Johnsons logos were featured in the movie. I didn't see them on the dvd. Did I miss it or did they drop the scenes with the logos for some reason?

9. Well I guess it's gone then
If it were so ashamed of being inaccurate, I would have to believe it would never have been released on DVD at all.

11. I agree!
This is messing with a work of art simply for the sake of whatever corporate bozo doesn't want antiquated logos showing up.

Why is it an issue at all?

12. The way AT&T pretty much went away and came back...
I don't think they should worry about Pan Am or HoJo's. 5 years from now some other company could raise them from the grave.

17. Those logos are still there on my DVD.
A screen grab from my DVD using SNAPZ PRO (unregistered) x(

Kubrick had total control over his films and I'm sure his estate protects them with equal ferocity from tampering.
