Name a TV show that you wanted to like, but just couldn't.... |
|
I guess my top choice is "Lil Bush." Of course, the premise was great and they surely had enough material to work with- but I found it to be REALLY boring. I was hoping for a lot of really sharp and nasty jabs at the current administration, but it was mostly the same concepts repeated ad nauseum.
But then again, perhaps the creators were a little worried about going TOO far- what with Gitmo and all!

65. I think that some don't like it because, for whatever silly reason, they want it to be X-Files. |
|
But the story isn't at all like what the X-Files was, except that both dealt with governmental conspiracy and weird shit.
And unfortunately, that's apparently close enough for far too many to be able to let Fringe be what it is and let X-Files be what it is, and instead of trash Fringe because it isn't the X-Files.
Well, neither is Battlestar Galactica or Family Guy, but I don't see people trashing Fringe for not being those.
When I watched the first episode of Fringe, and esp. the second and third, I said to myself, "I hope this show makes it, because I know a bunch of idiots are out there who are going to say 'It's not the X-Files!' and not watch it."
Judge it on the merits and demerits of the show itself, and if one still doesn't like it, that's fine.
But I grow weary of the people who don't like it for the simple reason that it isn't something else.

I heard it is very funny and I don't doubt people's opinions on that. But whenever I tried watching it I just couldn't get into it all that much. And it's right after The Office, which is a must see TV show for me, so that's even more puzzling.
Perhaps it's because I just have trouble getting into TV shows about TV shows. It all comes off as a little too self-indulgent for my taste.

I've tried to get it, but I just don't find pee-pee and poop jokes funny after the first second. It seems like a warmed-over Simpsons with more scatological humor. It's funny, but it doesn't make me laugh out loud on a regular basis.

I still watch Heroes with the hope that it's going to get better. But I'm beginning to suspect it's not.
The story arc of the first season was beautiful. Completely fell apart in the second season. Third season? I don't know whuthufuh's going on. Hey Cheerleader. You're not Clint Eastwood. Quit talkin like that. Reminds me of that episode of Veronica Mars when her two boyfriends were talking shit to each other, and in a low, raspy voice she said, "I say we settle it with a talkin' like this contest."
Oh and big fat cradle-robbing cop's gotta go. I've hated that guy for a loooong time now.

I tried to watch it three times and gave up after only a few minutes. Too many one-liners for Crichton, or whatever his character name was. When he moved to Stargate, his lines seemed so much better and "natural". Still not as good as Jack, but nobody beats MacGuiver :D

Maybe because I didn't follow it from the beginning, but I feel as if I'd been dropped into chapter 20 of a Russian novel. Who the hell are all these people, and what the dickens are they trying to accomplish? Something about defeating Napoleon and finding the last Cylon...
I also gave up on Lost after the first two seasons. If I want puzzlement, confusion and seeing my favorite people die, real life offers quite enough of that.
