Looks like I'm going to be a Longhorn parent |
|
My son graduates from Alabama next month. He finally made his grad school decision. It looks like the University of Texas at Austin. I love it...that means more Hill Country rides!

Oh, good for him!
I hope he'll find everything he needs there!
It's amazing watching the kids grow up...

10. He picked it out of several schools that offered to pay his way |

It looks like the most/best opportunities are there.

5. Bring me some cheese fries from Snuffers when you come down to visit him. |
|
I'll pay you back.
Seriously, it's a beautiful area, and a beautiful campus, with a great open-stacks library. What's his subject?

He got invited there to work with a particular professor who was impressed with the research he's published so far. It's a great opportunity for him.

11. Ooo, chemistry. I know they have an active chemistry department, because |
|
at least once a year there's a story about half the campus being evacuated because of a chemistry lab mishap. Must take strong nerves to be a chemistry professor at a major university lab.
Congratulations. UT grad school is hard to get into. Ask W--they turned him down, so he had to go to Harvard instead.

6. Be sure to stop at Coopers BBQ in Llano. |
|
I ate there last night, and I'll be danged if NBA hall-of-famer Jerry West wasn't in there chowing down on ribs. My daughter will be a freshman at UT this year.
