Sad News for USA Hockey Fans...
Former Olympic coach Brooks killed in car accident

August 11, 2003

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - Herb Brooks, the legendary United States Olympic hockey coach who orchestrated the "Miracle on Ice" in 1980 over the Soviet Union, was killed Monday afternoon in a single-car accident. He was 66.

Herb Brooks for one moment in time was larger than life. His 1980 players will be reunited for his funeral, how sad.

why, in this day and age, do people insist on driving without a seatbelt. What a senseless loss.
