Yesterday I became an old person, as I went to the park wearing shorts with black shoes and socks |
|
I'm bearing up pretty well.:)

2. I used to wear cardigan sweaters to work, but I never wore |
|
shorts with black shoes and socks.
Have to ask 2 questions: Were they shorts with the really high waist to get over your potbelly?
How old are you really?

22. You are not really old - just practicing... |
|
You'll get the hang of it... While walking in your old man costume, stop periodically and stare vacantly at nothing, then shake your head and continue your walk. You might want to look into a cane as well.

But that's how we metal heads roll.
EDIT: Evidently we're not all that high on spelling, though.

11. Bob Mould's picture for "Black Sheets of Rain" shows him dressed similarly |
|
though they look more like sewn-up boxers. I'll just tell everybody my fashion judgment is suffering from my tinnitus and my wrestling obsession; naah, "I'm old" is a lot more credible.:)

6. years ago (when I still had a dad) |
|
we were driving between Pendleton and Anderson Indiana and there was this ancient little old man in red plaid shorts, a yellow striped Tee shirt tucked in with his shorts in the area of his arm pits and a straw hat walking down the high way about a mile out of Pendleton (where he lived)
I said WHOA!!! That guy looks a lot like daddy , lets go back and check it out.
and sure enough it was him.
I said "daddy ! what are you doing on this busy road? "
He said "well daughter, I wanted to go see mommy and I thought if I walked real slow and was careful I could make it" At the time my mom was in a Nursing Home in Anderson , suffering with dementia . It was a good twenty miles away.
We offered him a ride , which he gladly accepted .
He had candy in his pocket for mom .She always looked forward to seeing Chester because he brought candy , and besides she had loved him since she was a teenager.
He was only ninty then , so he thought he would make it.

15. Years ago, when I still had a mom |
|
a lady was wandering my neighborhood trying to find the drugstore. She was obviously lost and obviously wasn't going to get found without help. I got my car and took her to the drugstore. The drugstore she wanted was out of business, so I took her to the new location a couple of blocks further. Fortunately they recognized her, and were able to call her son, who came to get her. They really didn't seem to understand why I would help a lost, disoriented stranger. I explained that my mom had senile dementia, and there but for the grace of-- well, her own timidity, really, that could have been her.

24. Stranded at the Waffle House. |
|
I've told this on DU before. Miz t. and I saw it unfold a few months ago.
Short version: An elderly lady's husband left the booth for the men's room and evidently forgot she was with him. Left the men's room and walked out to his car and drove off. A waitress got her a ride with a couple of young construction workers who had just finished their breakfasts. A little bit funny, and a lot sad. I often wondered if the old fellow made it home.

Anyway, I've got flat feet; me and the Danskos are probably going to the grave together. (If Dansko makes work boots, I just don't want to know about it.)

As I recall, none of them had working elastic anymore. Haven't gotten around to getting more. As the whitest white man in America, I shouldn't be wearing short sleeves or short pants anyway. (Dark hair + light eyes = high skin cancer risk.)

It could be done in such as way as would make you look like a hard-core punk, or more like a feeble old dude. Without the picture, we'll never know.

32. Picture a relatively slender 46-year-old in a green polo shirt and dark green khaki shorts, |

not Bermudas, but long enough to cover boxers, in dark dress socks and Danskos. I look like a middle-aged man with fashion issues, which is what I am.
