Did you know that you can sometimes find decent food in a fast food restaurant? |
|
Wow!
It's true that you do find out something new every day.

1. There's a fast food place here called Evos. It has a couple vegan items. |
|
Most excellent, and fairly healthy.

3. No, strictly burger/fries joint. |
|
We have a couple "wrap" places here that make a killer hummus. However, the BEST hummus in Tampa isn't at a fast food joint, rather at the Tampa Bay Brewing Company. Oh...so good.

4. Ever have hummus with fries? |
|
There's a Mediterranean joint here that I go to for wraps and I scoop up the hummus with fries instead of ketchup and it's sooooo delish.

5. Matter of fact, I have. Well sort of... |
|
I used onion rings. The hummus has to be really creamy, though. If it's too thick, the breading just falls off.

7. When I lived in England, we got something called a "chip butty" from the kebab place |
|
It was chips (french fries) served in a pita, with hummus. Delicious!

10. Yeah, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it |
|
We would get them around midnight, after we closed up the pub. The shop was right around the corner so it was perfect for us.
I have some jalapeno hummus in the fridge that's calling my name. That may have to do for now...

16. They probably secretly use bacon grease to make their food |
|
I read about a big stink where vegetarians were shocked to find out Burger King fries had animal fat on them.

The most incredible burgers, heavenly fries and sublime butterscotch milkshakes you've ever had.

9. Austin has Thundercloud Subs and Freebirds. And Moe's is a good national chain. |
|
Thunderclouds has a hummus veggie sandwich that is perfect.
Freebirds does assembly-line burritos and nachos, kind of like Chipotle Grill, but better. No lard in the beans or broth in the rice, and some excellent salsas and sauces.
Moe's also does assembly-line burritos, and they have tofu as an option. Might not excite the tofu-repressed, but it tickles my toenails. :)
My favorites.

12. Come to Tony's Restaurant on State Street here in Saginaw. |
|
They've got a 18-inch pizza to go (no delivery) that's one of the best I've ever had for, I think, $15. Get a Wop Salad (sorry, that's what it's called) as a side and a real ice cream shake with that and you (and several of your mooching friends) are set for life. They do hamburgers and breakfast and stuff, too (all very good), but I still recommend the pizza. John Of course, I LOVE 7-11 Polish Dogs, too, so be advised.
