Shiner Bohemian Black Lager

4. I saw it and tried it for the first time today

I guess they put it out the first time a few years ago as one of their limited edition anniversary beers, but I wasn't in the distribution area then. It was (I've gathered) popular enough that they made it permanent :woohoo:

I picked it up as part of the Shiner Family Reunion pack:

5. IIRC, it was their 97th anniversary special beer,

but people liked it so much they are now producing it permanently.

I was given that family reunion pack as a birthday present - all good stuff, but Shiner Black is my favorite.

7. it's tasty

every bit as dark as the picture, though the head isn't quite as thick. The flavor is mostly malt, and it has a nice, subtle roasted malt aroma. Good drinkability. Slight aftertaste but not terribly bitter. :toast:

I think it's the best of all the beers they produce.

9. Have you ever had the Holiday Cheer?

I like the Black better than Bock too -- I hope I can find a proper six pack of it here :)

The Holiday Cheer is also very good, though, and when I tried that last year I thought it might be my favorite Shiner beer. Very different from Black, of course, but a great seasonal beer :toast:

I also want to try the 100 Commemorator that I saw on the website :beer:

The 100 Commemorator is also very good. It is a Double Bock, so it is not as dark as the Black, but still quite tasty!

I hope you can find a 6 pack of S. Black where you live. It's worth searching for! :beer:
