YES!!!!!!!! I'm seeing YES in concert |
|
at the National Harbour in DC
:woohoo:
General Adminssion and the tickets were dirt cheap in price
:woohoo:
Mind you Jon Anderson still can't tour (a tribute band member is replacing him so hopefully the songs will still sound the same vocally) and they're doing a Bonham with the keyboards (Rick Wakeman's kid is touring).
:woohoo:
Yes made me love the music I listen to today. My first 2 concerts I ever saw were Bowie and Yes - and I still remember the Yes encore with Starship Troopers - it was at Hershey Park Stadium (outdoors) and all these amazing lights came down and they just rocked it for 30 minutes with that song.
I was hooked!!

1. Yes, they sound the same vocally. |

I've got a few recordings from the early shows of this tour, and the guy does quite an impressive imitation of Jon Anderson.

4. I think Rick is missed more than Jon |

I saw the tour last fall.
Mind you, Benoit David is no Jon Anderson, but I think he does a better Jon Anderson than Oliver Wakeman does at being his dad.
Not having Jon there means they will do stuff from the Drama album, which worked well for me (in fact those were my favorite two songs of the evening).
I'm going to see them too, up here in MA... and I think there's an Asia set that's going to happen as well.
I'm glad you're going to get to see them again.
My sis is in England now. She went to see Rick Wakeman perform "The Six Wives of Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace (Henry VIII's palace)... and to meet up with YesFans.

5. They're doing a 'Bonham' with the keyboards |
|
Oliver Wakeman is their keyboard who happens to be Rick Wakeman's oldest kid.
I've heard the concert with Jason Bonham doing drums for Zeppelin and the kid sounds alot like his old man. I'm suspecting that Wakeman Jr. was tutored on keyboards the way that Bonham Jr was on drums and you'll hear alot of Rick Wakeman keyboarding in this round.

I got that, in fact I saw him twice last fall.
Of the two "substitutes" I think Benoit David does a better job. I think he sounds more like Jon than Oliver sounds like Rick.

9. Excellent.....David Bowie. |
|
Lucky you. That's one guy I'd love to see in concert. Did you see him in the movie, The Man Who Fell to Earth. What a perfect cast. I saw YES in concert at the Greek some years ago and I got a t-shirt with the snake on it. Roundabout was the 2nd album I bought. The first was Moody Blues....Every Good Boy...etc.
